Terms of use and copyright

These terms apply to everyone who opens dev. Hub. By creating an account or reading a book here, you agree to them. Last updated 18 October 2026.

© 2026 dev. All rights reserved. All books, units, teacher guides, assessments, illustrations and code on this platform are original works by Eng. Mahmoud Yakoub, published under the name dev.

1. Ownership and copyright

Every coursebook, teacher guide, lesson, quiz, assessment task, answer key, image, layout and code sample on dev. Hub (“the materials”), and the platform itself, are owned by dev. and its author, Eng. Mahmoud Yakoub.

The materials are protected by copyright from the moment they were created, under national copyright law and under international agreements including the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works. No registration or notice is needed for that protection to apply. The dev. name, the dev. logo and the “d.” mark identify the author’s work and may not be used without written permission.

Opening a book here does not transfer any ownership to you.

2. Your licence to read

When your account is approved and a book is assigned to you or to your class, you receive a licence that is:

  • personal: for you only, on your own account;
  • limited: for the books assigned to you, for the period set by the administrator;
  • view-only: for reading on this platform, for teaching and learning;
  • non-transferable and revocable: it cannot be passed to anyone else, and it can be ended at any time.

Teachers may display a book to their own approved class during lessons. Teacher guides and answer keys are for teachers only and must not be shown or given to students.

3. What is not allowed

Unless you have written permission from dev., you must not:

  • download, copy, print, photograph, screenshot or record any page of the materials;
  • share, publish, upload, sell, rent or distribute the materials, in whole or in part, in any form;
  • translate, adapt or edit the materials, or create new works based on them;
  • use the materials to train, fine-tune or test any artificial intelligence system;
  • share your password or let another person use your account;
  • pass a class link to anyone who is not a student of that class;
  • remove, hide or alter a watermark or copyright notice;
  • use scripts, extensions or other tools to collect pages, or try to bypass the protection of the platform.

4. Accounts and access

You must register with your real name. Teachers and independent students register with an email address they control and confirm it; students who join through a class link choose a username and password instead. If such a student forgets their login, the class teacher or the administrator approves the reset. Accounts are approved by the administrator. Classes created by teachers are also approved by the administrator before students can join them.

You are responsible for everything done with your account. An account can be signed in on one device at a time. The administrator may limit, pause or end access to any book, class or account at any time, with or without notice.

5. Content protection

To protect the author’s work, pages are delivered as images that carry a visible watermark with the email address of the reader and the date. Reading is paused when the reader window loses focus, and attempts to print, save or capture a page are blocked where the browser allows it and are recorded.

An attempt to capture, record, print or save a page closes the account at once. A student account is reactivated by the class teacher or the administrator; a teacher account, and from then on the accounts of that teacher’s students, only by the administrator.

If a watermarked copy is found outside the platform, the account named in the watermark is treated as its source.

6. Your data

dev. Hub keeps only what it needs to run the service for your school and to protect the materials. In short:

  • your account: your name, your email address or username, your school, your role and your classes; a phone number, country and city when they are added to the profile; your password only as a one-way hash that cannot be read back;
  • your work: where you stopped in each book, the notes, drawings and programs you save, your tasks, marks and feedback, your messages in discussion groups and to your teacher, and your answers in live quizzes and games;
  • use and security: when you sign in and for how long, your device and internet address, which books you open, and blocked attempts to print, save or capture a page;
  • live sessions: camera, voice and shared screens pass through our own media server and are not kept, unless the teacher records the lesson; a recording is encrypted and kept only in the school’s own Google Drive, and the students of the session watch it inside dev. Hub once the school approves it;
  • a few helpers: some features ask an AI model (Anthropic’s Claude) with short extracts, never whole books; our server and email are hosted by Namecheap.

One cookie keeps you signed in. There is no advertising and no tracking by other companies, and your data is not sold. You, a parent or your school can ask to see, correct or delete it at any time. Students under the age of digital consent in their country should register with the agreement of a parent, guardian or their school.

The full account of what is collected, why, who it is shared with and how long it is kept is in the Privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
